FREE WOMEN:
FREE WOMEN IN VALNOR
**It should be noted that Free Women are only free by the grace of men. Gor is a man’s world. We will enforce that.
~~ATTIRE
Free women are expected to cover their bodies with dresses or gowns not exposing flesh to men’s lust. In Valnor the ways of female decorum are a must such as no flesh showing. Keep exposed skin to a
minimum.
Within the sim of Valnor town veils are NOT required. When traveling to another Gorean city, the veil is required (even in cities where they allow unveiled FW’s is of good procedure to wear it).
Be aware – If slave, panther, taluna. merc, pirate, outlaw or other female of Gor and you come disguised as FW, any and everything can happen if you are discovered.
Slaves wearing concealment vests of Free Women are, by the laws of Gor, if discovered, deemed to capital punishment: “ It is a capital offense for a female slave to wear the garment of a free woman”.
Do not come to our city dressed in a different way (i.e. earth type clothes). if you do not have proper attire, get the free one that we have to offer in the market.
~~BEHAVIOR
Disrespectful, mouthy, non lady like expressions, anti-male comments, battiness and other disruptive behavior may lead to action against a FW, imprisonment and being taken to the magistrate.
IMPORTANT: (83 of the gorean laws): There is no law that states a man may enslave a Free Woman of his Home Stone because she has insulted or disrespected him.
Free women are expected to behave in a manner that befits their status. (here in Valnor we believe that is NOT necessary to be extreme, harsh or brutal to slaves to be a FW).
Though a veil is not required in Valnor, face-stripping of a Free Woman is illegal. A woman cannot be face-stripped for offenses without a trial first. (By the Laws of Gor: (46) Face stripping a free woman, forcefully removing her veils against her will, is a serious crime.)
Free Women in Gor did not travel without escort. Do get one to travel (may be another FW) and do not get into trouble. You may be questioned and should have your story line ready in your head to follow through.
Slaves who have been branded or had their ears pierced and later freed should definitely keep their manumission papers handy at all times. The manumission papers are the only ones that prove that she was freed.
~~WEAPONS
Female sizes and weights such as daggers, bows, poison hair pins or fan throwing darts, etc. A whip and/or small dagger on the belt is allowed as well as these may have been used during the day to tend animals, keep slaves in line or cut herbs, flowers or the like.
FW’s as FIGHTERS: Ruled by a Ubar and an Admin Governmental body. Valnor may have FEMALE FIGHTERS that in such case will be named “ARCHERS” they will not be part of the Warriors but of others castes called upon in times of emergency, allowed to carry weapons such as a sheathed bow, dagger, hair pins and whip and use them in case of needed defense and attack upon need. They are FW and must conduct themselves as such. Only in situations of attack they are allowed to take the skirt off and be in pants for easy movement and lag reduction.
The law of Gor says that an FW drawing a weapon with no reasonable reason, such as defense of their virtue, physical defense from attack, and similar, to a Free Man, is punishable by trial or forced submission by collar.
No FW will be prosecuted for drawing weapons to defend theTown of Valnor, the Government body or the Home Stone.
~~FW SUBMISSION/COLLARING
Acts of passion detected in public places are not becoming of a Free Woman and they can and will result in COLLARING.
“In many cities, such actions, attempting to spy on masters and slaves, disguising oneself as a slave, garbing oneself as a slave, even in the supposed secrecy of one’s own compartments, lingering about slave shelves and markets, even exhibiting an interest in, or fascination with, bondage, can result in a reduction to bondage. The theory is apparently that such actions and interests are those of a slave, and that the female who exhibits them should, accordingly, be inbounded.” (Magicians of Gor, p.50)
Examples of passion include but are not limited to, showing of heat, flirtation, aggression, violence, calling another Free by Master or Mistress.
Be aware: showing too much flesh can be considered “suitable to the collar” (85. It is illegal for a person on their own to collar a free woman for “conduct indicating suitability for the collar.” Free women who may have violated this legal principle must be brought before a magistrate or judge for a legal determination as to whether there has been a violation sufficient to warrant a reduction to slavery).
Any woman who submits is no longer a Free. There two ways to handle a Free Woman’s submission: collaring or death…..
A Free Woman can sell herself into slavery, but once the transaction is completed, it is too late for her to revoke it.
If a Free Woman kneels to a Free Man or addresses him as Master, this is sufficient to make her a slave. Her actions are interpreted as a gesture of submission. (Note: Make no mistake, commonly men sit cross-legged and WOMEN KNEEL IN GOR. This is not a submission. A woman must kneel TO a man or kneel to him by command for it to be considered submitting).
Players, musicians, poets, and singers cannot be enslaved but can be arrested imprisoned, tortured and executed by court decision.
(By the Laws of Gor: (89): “The collar, by Gorean laws, conceals the past.” When a person is enslaved, they begin a new life as a slave and may not be held accountable for any crimes that occurred while they were Free).
ANY FREE WOMAN asked for duel and loses is in a 3 DAY collar to the Town of Valnor … and to serve in all ways as a slave to the Free citizens.
~~COURTSHIP
The gorean laws and principles of Courtship and Free Companionship will apply in Valnor.
FW’s will not visit a FM in his private quarters, namely rooms of the city residencies.
A FW that is caught in such situation may be brought to trial and her faith decided by the magestrate.
The FM in cause may request the courtship and if conceded he will from then on be responsible for the FW composure, behavior and decor.
FW’s in courtship are not allowed sex (with exepiton of off sim private ooc quarters). Intimacy is reserved to Free Companionship.
~~TAVERN/FW INN
Taverns are places in which slaves are expected to act in ways aiming to please man so showing heat and have sexual directed behavior is natural.
7.8.1. Free Women are not allowed to enter in the Tavern unescorted by a FM. However Valnor government does discourage that behavior since that can lead to situations that can come to be unpleasant to them (and even threatening of their necks).
~~FW OF ALLIES
Valnor may contract defenses by Mercenaries and/or allies.
Valnors government does not interfere with the eventual independent group recruiting rules, therefore, they are allowed to recruit and use female fighters in their ranks.
The female fighters of those independent groups do have to follow the Valnor rules for the gorean FW’s in general, including allowed weapons and attire.
There is no run to safety, taking cover in Safe Zones. The RP will follow you when by local defenders.
The only accepted exception is to the FW’s and slaves of the Town of Valnor (they can seek shelter and defense inside the city boundaries ) when attacked from outsiders there is no safe zone on the Isle.
